Tango Lírico

Since 2013, Tango Lírico has captivated European audiences with an extraordinary fusion of Argentine tango and classical singing. Soprano Aylén Bárbara Gerull, whose versatile artistic experiences in tango and flamenco shape her interpretations, brings the passionate soul of tango into a new and unique artistic context.

The ensemble combines the rhythmic intensity and style of traditional Argentine tango – performed by an authentic quartet or quintet – with the elegance and expressiveness of classical singing. This fusion echoes the historical influences of Italian opera arias, which, brought to Argentina by immigrants in the early 20th century, profoundly inspired the development of tango.

With a repertoire that includes masterpieces by Astor Piazzolla, Francisco Canaro, and Roberto Firpo, Tango Lírico creates a compelling interplay: classical music in a tango setting or tango in a classical concert context. This exceptional synthesis makes the ensemble a cultural highlight, ideal for both concert halls and milongas. On request, the program can be enhanced with dance performances, turning it into a comprehensive artistic experience.

Press Review:
“Aylén Bárbara Gerull impressively reveals the origins of tango music by interpreting a tango waltz as if it were an opera aria. This connection reflects the mutual inspiration that Italian immigration in Argentina brought to the melodies of both opera and tango.”

Tango Lírico – a musical encounter of two worlds, uniting classical music and tango with extraordinary perfection.
