13 Canciones Antiguas

English:
Federico García Lorca Lorca (05.06.1988 to 19.08.1936) was one of the most important Spanish authors of the 20th century and also a gifted pianist. His special love was Spanish folklore and flamenco, which was a great inspiration for his literary works such as „Poema del Cante Jondo“ and his most famous work „Romancero Gitano“. To preserve the music of his homeland, he documented Spanish folk songs by arranging them for piano and vocals. The result was the song cycle „13 Canciones Antiguas“. In 1931 Lorca recorded the song cycle on vinyl records with the singer and dancer „La Argentinita“ (Encarnación López Júlvez). The recordings were a great success and even the famous Spanish composer and friend García Lorcas,
Manuel de Falla praised the Arrangemens. Aylén Bárbara Gerull interpreted Lorca’s song cycle with both piano and guitar.
